DistributionIndia (Assam, Mizoram, Nagaland), Bhutan, Myanmar (= Burma), Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Tibet, SW China (from Yunnan and Guangxi to Hubei, northward to Shaanxi and Gansu, Fujian, Sichuan, Guangdong)

Type locality: Ponsee (= Bangxi in Yingjiang County, W Yunnan, China); neotype locality: “Mogok”, Mandalay Division, Myanmar.

Diagnosis 
CommentFor a discussion of nomenclatorial issues concerning the genera Lycodon and Ophites see Zhao & Adler (who listed this species under Ophites).

Similar species: L. liuchengchaoi, L. gongshan.

Behavior: nocturnal.

Distribution: Possibly in Bhutan (Lenz 2012).

Habitat: fully arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin fascia = band, for the dorsal cross-bands in this species.
