DistributionIndia (Assam, Mizoram), Myanmar (= Burma), Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Tibet, SW China (from Yunnan and Guangxi to Hubei, northward to Shaanxi and Gansu, Fujian, Sichuan, Guangdong)

Type locality: Ponsee (= Bangxi in Yingjiang County, W Yunnan, China); neotype locality: “Mogok”, Mandalay Division, Myanmar. Map legend:

TypesNeotype: BMHN 1901.4.26.1 (adult male), from “Mogok”, Mandalay Division, Myanmar, designated by VOGEL & LUO 2011. 
CommentFor a discussion of nomenclatorial issues concerning the genera Lycodon and Ophites see Zhao & Adler (who listed this species under Ophites).

Similar species: L. liuchengchaoi, L. gongshan.

Behavior: nocturnal.

Distribution: Possibly in Bhutan (Lenz 2012).
