Diagnosis 
Comment(Mildly ?) venomous (Domergue 1962). Envenomation may cause acute localized effects, which includes pain, swelling, blistering, and tissue necrosis (Domergue, 1989).

Synonymy: M. citrinus has been synonymized with M. colubrinus based on DNA sequence data (NAGY et al. 2007).

Type species: Dipsas colubrina SCHLEGEL 1837 is the type species of the genus Madagascarophis MERTENS 1952.

Habitat: canyon forests and surrounding relict forests. Semi-arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018).
