Distribution	Australia (Northern coastal area of Western Australia) Type locality: Mitchell River Falls (14°50’S, 125° 42’E), WA, Australia

Diagnosis	Diagnosis: Distinguished from other species of Python by having keeled dorsal scales (Smith 1981)
Comment	Abundance: very rare; from 1981 to 2007 only about 10 specimens have been found (Mattison 2007). Habitat: partly arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018).
Etymology	Named after Latin “carinatus” = keeled (like a ship).
