Diagnosis 
CommentOpisthotropis is masculine, thus the species must be called O. typicus (fide MALKMUS et al. 2002).

Habitat: aquatic, inhabiting flowing streams.

Diet: fishes, frogs, tadpoles, freshwater shrimp and earthworms.

Behavior: nocturnal
