TypesSyntypes: ZSI 3813–15, ZSI 4205 (Das et al. 1998); The holotype (no. 611) was originally deposited at the herpetological laboratory of the “State University for Education of Mongolia”. Later it was transferred to the University of Tashkent in 1970 and is today most probably lost (pers. comm. Kh. MunKhBayar, March 2011). Moreover, there are two paratypes in the latter mentioned collection, one paratype in the collection of the “Zoological Museum of the Mongolian State University” and three paratypes in the biological collection of “School numer 33”. All remaining paratypes are still at the collection of the “State University for Education of Mongolia”. Currently, one of these paratypes was gratefully donated to the authors by Kh. MunKhBayar and is now present in collection of the Museum Koenig in Bonn (ZFMK 93007) (BAIG et al. 2012).

Syntypes: ZSM 19/1919, male, “Khotan” [= Hotan or Chotan, China], collected by E. Zugmayer, 05.- 06.1906; ZSM 314/1910/1-9, 9 specimens, same data as ZSM 19/1919 [tarimensis]
DiagnosisDiagnosis (as Paralaudakia). Head and body dorsolaterally depressed; head covered with smooth scales; nostril on edge of canthus rostralis; low spinose scales on the sides of head; vertebral enlarged scales smooth or weakly keeled; no patch of enlarged mucronate scales on flanks; tail segment consists of 4 complete whorls but not marked; callous glands present in males only at precloacal position [BAIG et al. 2012].
CommentSynonymy: Both MUNKHBAYAR & SHAGDARSUREN 1970 and PETERS 1971 apparently described the subspecies altaica, hence PETERS’ name is a homonym as well as a synonym.
EtymologyNamed after Dr. Ferdinand Stoliczka (r838-r874), a paleontologist and zoologist born in Moravia (Czech Republic).
