Type locality: “Port Natal” = Durban, South Africa.  
Reproductionoviparous 
TypesSyntypes: BMNH 1946.1.6.1, BMNH 1946.1.6.6, and BMNH 1946.1.6.14, longest syntype 650–660 mm (T. Ayers). 
Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy (partly) after A. Schmitz (pers. comm.) and LOVERIDGE 1958. Specimens from the Central African Republic have been assigned to P. hughesi.

Terra typica: Port Natal (Durban), Südafrika.

Similar species: may be confused with young green mambas (Dendroaspis angusticeps)

Habitat: fully arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018).
