Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy: listed as synonym of Zamenis karelini by Wallach et al. 2014: 565 and others. However, there are no reliable diagnostic characters to distinguish Platyceps rogersi from P. ventromaculatus (Gray, 1834) according to DISI et al. (2001) and SCHÄTTI (2006).

EtymologyNamed in honour of Colonel Sir John Godfrey ROGERS (1850-1922) of the Royal Army Medical Corps (FLOWER 1933) for his "most invaluable assistance in my researches in Egypt" (ANDERSON 1893).
