DiagnosisOriginal description: “[Scales smooth, ear-scales small] Silvery, olive, polished ; lateral scales brown edged beneath white; hind toes unequal, white; tail longer than
the body.” (Gray 1839). 
CommentPlestiodon chinensis formosensis is paraphyletic with Plestiodon chinensis chinensis and needs to be redefined (Kurita et al. 2017).
