CommentType species: Coluber canus LINNAEUS 1758 is the type species of the genus Pseudaspis FITZINGER 1843.

Type genus: Pseudaspis FITZINGER 1843 is the type genus of the family Pseudaspididae DOWLING & DUELLMAN 1978 or the subfamily Pseudaspidinae DOWLING & DUELLMAN 1978. The family currently includes only two genera, Pseudaspis and Pythonodipsas GÜNTHER 1868. See Kelly et al. 2009 and Vidal et al. 2008 for a phylogenetic discussion.

ZMB 65712 appears to be pictured in Merrem 1790: 42, 1821: 52 (fide BAUER & GÜNTHER 2014)
