DistributionMexico (Jalisco, Colima, Sinaloa, SW Durango, Nayarit, Jalisco, Guanajuato, Colima, W Michoacán, S México, Morelos, Guerrero, Puebla, Sonora), 0-1100 m elevation.

Type locality: “Colima" [= State, western México].

TypesLectotype, USNM 31425 (orig. 1363), a 502 mm female (J. Xanthus), designated by Hardy, 1972: 58. 
Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy: Pseudoficimia hiltoni BOGERT & OLIVER 1945 was synonymized with Pseudoficimia frontalis by HARDY & MCDIARMID 1969.

Type species: Toluca frontalis COPE 1864: 167 is the type species of the genus Pseudoficimia BOCOURT 1883.

Diet: scorpions, centipedes and spiders (Jackson et al. 2019). 
EtymologyThe specific epithet (frontalis) is Latin (front, forehead; -alis, pertaining to) and apparently refers to the dark interorbital bar.

The genus Pseudoficimia was named after the Greek (pseudo, meaning false, and ficimia, alluding to its resemblance to snakes of the genus Ficimia).
