Diagnosis 
CommentBehavior: nocturnal.

Diet: geckos, skinks; females also feed on small mammals and birds

Type species: Pythonodipsas carinata GÜNTHER 1868 is the type species of the genus Pythonodipsas GÜNTHER 1868. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin “carinatus” = keeled (like a ship).
