Type locality: above Finca Chichen, Alta Verapaz, Guatemala, approximately 1737 m (5700 ft.) elevation.

CommentColor plate 68 in VILLA et al. 1988. Not listed in Liner 2007.

Synonymy: Myers 1974 synonymized R. stadelmani with R. hempsteadae. He justified this with the observation that the holotype of hempsteadae is an adult male whereas the name Rhadinaea stadelmani is based on a juvenile female. MENDELSON & KIZIRIAN 1995 resurrected stadelmani for populations in the Sierrade los Cuchumatanes and Montafiasde Cuilco, in northwestern Guatemala.

Distribution: not in Mexico (Wallach et al. 2014, Heimes 2016). 
EtymologyNamed after Mrs.R.W. Hempstead of Cobain, Guatemala, in recognition of courtesies rendered to L.C. Stuart in the course of his investigations on the fauna of Alta Verapaz.

Etymology (stadelmani): named after the collector of the types, Raymond Stadelman.
