DiagnosisDifferential diagnosis:The species asmussi belongs to the genus Saara. This taxon is distinguished from Saara hardwickii by having 1–2 rows of unkeeled intercalary scales separating each tail whorl dorsally (2–6 keeled intercalary scales in S. hardwickii). S. asmussi is distinguished from S. loricatain having fewer preanofemoral- pores (8–13 in S. asmussivs. 14–20 in S. loricata).
 
Comment
Distribution: See map in SMID et al. 2014 for distribution in Iran. 
EtymologyThe genus is named after Greek “centron” = thorn, sting, and “trachelos” = neck. The species is named after Dr. Hermann Asmuss, a former teacher of Strauch and professor of zoology at the University of Dorpat.
