DistributionMexico (southern border of the Mexican plateau in C Jalisco, eastern border of Lake Chapala westward to Nayarit.

Type locality: Magdalena, Jalisco.

Comment 
EtymologyNamed after Latin unus, "one," the Greek canthus, "corner," and the Latin suffix -alis, "pertaining to," refer to the distinctive single canthal scale.
