Type locality: Ponhta Chinhongue, Benguerua Island, Mozambique.

DiagnosisDiagnosis. This insular race differs from the typical form in its smaller size (adults 57-64 mm, compared with 68-88 mm in the typical form), lower ventral counts
(84-89 versus 95-108) and darker colouration [from Broadley 1990]. 
CommentBelongs to the S. arenicola group. This species lost its forelimb entirely and retains only two digits on the hind limb.
