Diagnosis | Diagnosis: A rather elongate Scincella, with a small head. High number of body scales: 70-79 scalerows between the parietals and the thighs; 70-80 gulars + ventrals; 26-28 scales around midbody. Four or five pairs of enlarged nuchals. N o projecting lobules (Ouboter 1986: 51). |
Comment | Similar species: In coloration and shape quite similar to S. punctatolineata. In other characters (scalation) resembling S. modesta (Ouboter 1986: 51). |
Etymology | Named after Thomas Barbour (1884-1946), Associate Curator of Reptiles and Amphibians (1923), and, later, Director (1927) of the Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard. |
