Reproduction(ovo-) viviparous.

Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy partly after OUBOTER 1986. TAYLOR 1963 considered Leiolopisma pootipongi, L. eunice, and L. smithi as valid species. GREER (1974) called pootipongi “incertae sedis”. SHEA & GREER 2002 also considered S. eunicis as valid species. Leiolopisma ochraceum BOURRET 1937 has been resurrected from synonymy of S. reevesii as valid species.

Distribution: Szyndlar (1991) reported from Korea but CHEN et al. (2001) doubt that and suggest that Szyndlar’s specimen might have been either S. huanrenensis or S. vandenburghi. Reports from Bangladesh actually represent Sphenomorphus maculatus (MAHONY et al. 2009). 
EtymologyNamed after John Reeves (1774-1856), naturalist and collector who sent specimens of plants and animals back to Britain. Reeves was employed by the East India Company as an ‘Inspector of Tea’ and lived in China from 1812 to 1831. Note that Steijneger (1907) stated that John Russell Reeves (1804-1877), the son of John Reeves, sent the material to Gray, so there is a chance of confusion here.
