Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy after PETERS & OREJAS-MIRANDA 1970. Synonymized with S. dimidiata by KOFRON 1990 (but not followed by other authors).

Habitat: fully arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018). 
EtymologyNamed after the mythological Greek giant Argus who had many eyes (some accounts say 100). The reptiles named after him are adorned with ocelli (eyelike spots).
