Type locality: Mt. Mou, New Caledonia (22° 03’ 45” S, 166° 20’ 39” E)

EtymologyNamed after the Latin “rufus” = red, and “cauda” = tail, alluding to the bright reddish colour of the tail in both sexes of this species.
