Diagnosis 
CommentType species: Coluber compressus DAUDIN 1803 is the type species of the genus Tripanurgos, which has been synonymized with Siphlophis by ZAHER & PRUDENTE 2003.

Habitat: fully arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018)

Behavior: nocturnal

Diet: mainly lizards, but occasionally snakes, mammals, anurans, and lizard eggs. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin comprimo "compressed, restrained, repressed" [Perfect passive participle of comprimō], referring to the flat head shape of the species.
