Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy: T. c. mitrifer nor T. c. wagneri are listed by CROTHER and therefore considered as synonyms of T. coronata.

Type species: Tantilla coronata BAIRD & GIRARD 1853: 131 is the type species of the genus Tantilla BAIRD & GIRARD 1853. 
EtymologyThe generic name is a Latin word meaning "trifle or something small and insignificant."
