Type locality: “West Africa”.

nikolausi: Sudan (Jumhūriyyat), Republic of South Sudan (RSS) (Red Sea Province)  
Reproductionoviparous 
TypesType: BMNH 1865.2.17.10 (and possibly additional specimens).
Holotype: ZFMK 38431 (Abb. 8), 0", legt G. Nikolaus, 25. 7. 1982; paratype: BMNH 97.10.28.126 [nikolausi] 
Diagnosis 
CommentSpecies has been confused with T. annularis and T. parvicarinata (at least in Mali) and T. panousei (in Morocco, Mauritania, Western Sahara).

Distribution: occurrence in these countries needs verification: S Morocco, Western Sahara, Algeria (Hoggar Mountains), Mauritania, Central African Republic, Mali, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Gambia ?, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast.
