Diagnosis 
CommentSubspecies: The former subspecies fulvus, postremus, and pulchrilatus have been raised to full species status.

Distribution: Listed for Honduras by Meyer & Wilson 1971 but not listed for Honduras by WILSON & MCCRANIE (2002).

Hybridization: WILLIAMS & WILSON 1965 reported a hybrid of Thamnophis cyrtopsis cyclides x T. c. postremus. 
EtymologyThe specific name is derived from the Greek words cyrto, meaning "rounded" and opsis, meaning "appearance," in reference to the shape of the nuchal blotches (LEMOS-ESPINAL & DIXON 2013).
