Diagnosis 
CommentSubspecies: Trachemys dorbigni nebulosa (VAN DENBURGH 1895) and Trachemys dorbigni adiutrix VANZOLINI 1995 have been elevated to full species status. FRITZ & HAVAS 2007 do not recognize any subspecies of T. dorbigni.

Habitat: freshwater (lakes, ponds, rivers) 
EtymologyNamed apparently after M. d'Orbigny who produced this species for the museum in Paris.
