DistributionEthiopia, Kenya, S Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, N/E Zaire (Democratic Republic of the Congo), Somalia, probably in Sudan (L. Chirio, pers. comm.)

TypesSyntypes: ZMH R02832 (male) R02833 (female), R02835-36, adults and juveniles. 
CommentNot listed for Somalia by LANZA 1990. Note that Chameleo bitaeniatus kinetensis has been elevated to full species status. 
EtymologyNamed after “bi-” = two or dual and Latin “taenia” = band or stripe.
