Type locality: Sarawak river.  
Reproductionoviparous 
TypesType: BMNH 1946.1.7.38 (and possibly additional specimens). 
Diagnosis 
CommentVery rare species only known from 6 specimens (TWEEDIE 1983 and MALKMUS et al. 2002). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin ellips = ellipse, -fer= bearing, related to the elliptical markings on the back.
