EtymologyThe specific name tachyscopaeus is a composite of tachys (Greek for swift) and scopaeus (Latinization of the Greek skopaios, meaning dwarf). This refers to the rapid movements and agility of the species in comparison to the more inactive A. seychellensis and to its original identification as a dwarf form of that species.
