Type locality: Fly River, Western Province (1946.1.11.84), other syntypes from Murray Island, Torres Street, Australia (BMNH 1946.1.10.58-60); Queensland, Australia (1946.1.11.97) [fide O’Shea 1996].

EtymologyPresumably named after the Greek leukos (white) plus proktos (anus), in allusion to the white patch at the vent. (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024)
