DistributionCuba (Sierra de Trinidad)

Type locality: Topes de Collantes, Sierra de Trinidad, Sancti Spiritus Province, Cuba.  
TypesHolotype: CZACC (= IZAC = IZ) (not numbered). 
DiagnosisDESCRIPTION: Size moderate (SVL in male 61 mm; only male holotype known);
total loreals 46; scales between supraorbitals 1; scales between interparietal and supraorbital semicircles 4; 8 postrostrals; 4 postmentals; suboculars separated from supralabials by 1 row of scales; dorsals small, granular; ventrals smooth; supradigital scales keeled; caudal crest present; dewlap well developed. Dorsum (as preserved) uniform chestnut brown, with remnants of darker bands on hindlimbs, at base of tail, as well as remnants of transverse bands on dorsum; dewlap (in life) reddish to orange (Schwartz & Henderson 1991: 251). 
CommentSpecies group: Norops sagrei species group (fide NICHOLSON et al. 2012).

Abundance: only known from the type specimen (Meiri et al. 2017). 
EtymologyNamed after Marcelo S. de la Fuente, an Argentine herpetological paleontologist. He was at Museo de La Plata, Universidad de la Plata (1995), and now is a member of the Museo de Historia Natural, San Rafael, Mendoza Province, Argentina.
