DiagnosisDESCRIPTION: Size moderate (SVL in males to 66 mm, in females to 42 mm); 6
rows of loreals; scales between supraorbitals 0; 2-3 scales between interparietal and supraorbital semicircles; 4 postrostrals; 8 postmentals; 3 transparent scales in lower eyelid ("window"); dorsals small, cycloid, smooth; ventrals larger than dorsals, cycloid, nonimbricating, smooth, in transverse and diagonal rows; supra-digital scales smooth; tail round to laterally compressed in males, always round in females and juveniles, vaguely verticillate proximally, 12-13 scales/verticil. Dorsum semitransparent, faint, greenish blue to yellowish tan to gray (at times brilliant blue-Pinar del Rio Province; see comments below); 4 reddish middorsal blotches at times present; head and neck with well-defined light stripes that make a chevronate pattern in nuchal area; parietal eye in center of light spot on inter-parietal; venter metallic yellow; tail with varying crossbands or blotches; dewlap yellowish at base, with broad, white margin and 2-3 gray to yellow stripes; iris brown (Schwartz & Henderson 1991: 293).
