Diagnosis | DESCRIPTION: Maximum SVL 306 mm; ventrals 145-146 in males; 141 in female; subcaudals 131-132 in males, 121 in female; ventrals + subcaudals 277-279 in males,262 in female; dorsal scale rows at midbody 17; supralabials 6-7; infralabials 8-9; preoculars 1/1; postoculars 2/2; loreals 1/1; rostral slight!y upturned; head neither conspicuously flattened nor broad; anal divided. Dorsal pattern a series of 3 dark brown lines on brown ground; lateral lines on scale rows 3 and 4; median dorsal line continues boldly to tail tip; dorsal scales dark-edged giving a "braided" appearance (most pronounced on tail); lineate pattern prominent in juveniles and adults; head without distinct cap; upper surface of head suffused with darker brown, this color reaching as far laterally as poorly defined loreopostocular line, not separated from dorsal head color, and concolor with it; venter immaculate pale yellow, but mental and first 1 to 4 infralabials with dark stippling or blotching (Schwartz & Henderson 1991: 590). |
