cornii: coastal C Somalia; Type locality: "fra Durgale e Magghiole, Somalia settentrionale" [= between Durghale (5°35'N, 48°15'E, elevation 90 m) and Magghiole, E Galguduud Region, cen. Somalia] via lectotype selection.

krameri: N end of C Somalia; Type locality: "Geriban (Somalia settentrionale, circa 48° 50' E X 7° 15' N)” [= Geriban, Mudug Region, cen. Somalia, ca. 48°50'E, 7°15'N, elevation 200 m].

There are no publications about this genus/species in the Zoological Record between 1978 and 1999.

Type species: Brachyophis revoili MOCQUARD 1888: 125 is the type species of the genus Brachyophis MOCQUARD 1888.

Phylogenetics: see Portillo et al. 2018 for a phylogenetic analysis of members of Aparallactinae, inlcuding members of Brachyophis.

Distribution: not in East Africa (S. Spawls, pers. comm., 28 June 2018). 
EtymologyNamed after the collector of the type, Georges Révoil. B. r. krameri has been named after Professor Eugen Kramer, Swiss herpetologist. R. r. cornii has been named after Guido Corni, politician and explorer who also was governor of Italian Somalia 1928-1931.
