SynonymCarlia sukur ZUG & KAISER 2014
DistributionIndonesia (Pulau Sukur)

Type locality: Pulau Sukur (08°07’S, 122°08’E) [‘‘eiland Soekoer’’ (1⁄4 Roesa Linguete)], Indonesia
Reproduction
TypesHolotype: ZMA.RENA 15316A, adult male, collected March 1908 by G. A. J. van de Sande. Paratypes. ZMA.RENA 15316B–L. All paratypes derive from Pulau Sukur and share the same collecting data as the holotype.
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Carlia sukur is a member of the Carlia peronii species group (Zug 2010) and differs from other group members by a combination of traits. Adult female and male C. sukur average smaller (mean 40 mm, range 39–41 mm SVL [Table 1]) than C. spinauris, C. nigrauris, and C. peronii group members of the Alor, Banda, and Kisar populations. In scalation, C. peronii group members are similar; C. sukur differs only from the Banda population (45–48) with more dorsal scales [Dorsal] (49–53), from the Timor C. peronii (30–31) and spinauris (28–32) with more midbody scales [Midbody] (33), and from C. nigrauris (18–22) with fewer third finger lamellae [3FingLm] (18–19) (Zug & Kaiser 2014).
CommentAbundance: only known from its original description (Meiri et al. 2017).
EtymologyThe specific name sukur derives from this species’ homeland, Pulau Sukur. It is proposed as a noun in apposition.
