Diagnosis
Comment	LARGEN & SPAWLS 2006 synonymized Chamaeleo calcaricarens with C. africanus.
Etymology	Named after L.: calcar, spur; carens, active present participle of carere = to lack: lacking spurs, denoting the absence of tarsal spurs in males of this species as compared with the closely related and spur-bearing males of C. africanus (Charles Klaver, pers. comm., 11 Jan 2023).
