Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy after COGGER 1983.

Habitat: shrubs, hummock grass.

Diet: a large percentage of the diet of this species (10-30%) consists of ants (Lucas et al. 2023). 
EtymologyNamed after the Latin scutula, "a small plate," and -atus, "provided with," referring to the perceived smaller scales than in other populations.
