Diagnosis 
CommentLimb morphology: 5 digits, 5 toes (Singhal et al. 2018, Cogger 2014) 
EtymologyFrom the Latin lateralis (of the side), presumably referencing the lateral color pattern, for which Storr notes “pale upper lateral spots wholly or mainly replaced by a broad stripe”. (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024)
