Type locality: Frewena, NT, in 19°25'S 135°24'E

TypesHolotype: NTM R6489, collected 18.iii.1979 by P. Horner, J. Griffiths & K. O’Brien, from under rubbish near the roadhouse. 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: A medium-sized Demansia (SVL up to 622 mm) with brown nuchal collar edged anteriorly and posteriorly with lemon-yellow, a dark teardrop across the fourth and fifth supralabials, ending about junction of last two supralabials, and edged posteriorly with a broad lemon-yellow line that extends onto the primary temporal, throat immaculate or nearly so, and body venter uniformly pale.

EtymologyNamed in honour of Prof. Rick Shine of the University of Sydney, in appreciation of his extensive studies on Australian elapid ecology, including Demansia.
