Type locality: 10 kilometers north of Joaquín V. González and 14.7 kilometers east of the intersection between National Route 16 and Provincial Route 30. Anta Department. Salta. Argentina.

DiagnosisDiagnosis: El género Sibynomorphus sólo puede reconnocerse por una combinación de caracteres, ninguno de los cuales se presenta en forma exclusiva. Sibynomorphus lavillai pertenece al género por presentar cabeza poco diferenciada, ojo no visible desde ahajo: cuerpo cilíndrico a subcilíndrico.

CommentDiet: primarily molluscs (T. de Lema, pers. comm., 16 Oct 2015).

Habitat: fully arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018). 
EtymologyNamed after Esteban Lavilla, Professor at the Fundacíon Miguel Lillo.
