DistributionIndonesia (Moluccas; Halmahera [fide SMITH 1937], Morotai), Admirality Islands

Type locality: “Soa Konorra und Tabello, Nord-Halmaheira, in Höhen bis zu 2500’, Oba, West-Halmaheira, und Patani, Ost-Halmaheira”.

notomoluccense: Ambon Island, Ceram (= Seram) and Sula islands; Type locality: Ambon Island  
TypesLectotype: SMF 15202 (6291a in Mertens 1922), Paralectotype: ZSM 37/1913 (was SMF 6291b), designation by Mertens (1967).
Holotype: ZMA.RENA, paratype: ZSM 62/1947/1, adult [notomoluccense] 
EtymologyNamed after Professor Dr. Wilhelm "Willy" Georg Kükenthal (1861-1922) who worked for the Bremen Geographical Society. He traveled widely, including to both the arctic and East Indies.
