Type locality: Dumdum (22° 38’ 31.24’’ N, 88° 25’ 52.21’’ E, datum = WGS84; 6 m above sea level), West Bengal, India fide Hardwicke & Gray (1827)].

monticola: Type locality: Sikkim and Himalayas, India

petersi: Type locality: Chamba and Rangna (West Himalayas).

warthi: Type locality: Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India.
Reproductionoviparous
TypesIconotype. An illustration by Hardwicke in Gray (1834: plate 75; see Fig. 8 in Amarasinghe et al. 2021). Holotype: lost (formerly BMNH); syntypes: ANSP 9537, 9538. Specimen c under Tiliqua rufescens in Gray (1845: 109), presented by Gen T. Hardwicke, but not listed by Boulenger (1887).
Syntypes: ANSP 9537-38; Bengal (2) [dissimilis]
Holotype: SMNS 1264 (KNS 2283), collected from Dehradun, North India by Hugo Warth [Euprepes warthii]
DiagnosisDiagnosis: A combination of the following characters distinguishes Eutropis trivittata from all other congeners: adults SVL of 92.1 mm, presence of vertebral and dorsolateral longitudinal white stripes, bicarinate (rarely tri-) mid dorsal scales, absence of nuchal pair (rarely first row of paravertebrals merged and visible as nuchals), three pre-auricular lobules, presence of transparent disc on the lower eyelid, 34-36 midbody scale rows, 54-64 ventrals, 48-54 paravertebrals, 13-16 lamellae beneath forth toe, absence of postnasal scale, and keeled temporal scales. (Amarasinghe et al. 2021).
CommentIllustration: Gray (1834: plate 75).

Relationships: E. dissimilis is paraphyletic with other Eutropis; Pereira & Schrago 2017 found it as a sister of Toenayar novemcarinata.

Synonymy mostly after SMITH 1935, following Boulenger (1887) who synonymised Euprepes guentheri, Euprepes petersii, and Euprepes warthii with Mabuia dissimilis. Smith (1935) resurrected Mabuya trivittata from the synonymy of M. dissimilis which was mistakenly synonymized by Boulenger (1887) disregarding the priority principle. Mabuia vertebralis BOULENGER 1887 has been revalidated from the synonymy of E. trivittata and E. dissimilis synonymized with E. trivittata by Amarasinghe et al. 2021.

Distribution: Reports from Myanmar are doubtful. For a map see Amarasinghe et al. 2021: 83 (Fig. 9).
