Distribution	Japan (Ryukyu Islands) Type locality: “Miyako-shima” (Miyakojima), Miyako Group, Riukiu (Ryukyu) Islands.

Diagnosis	Diagnosis: A form of Amphiesma pryeri distinguished by a reduced number of ventrals (159-165); latero-ventral black spots strongly developed; narrow, black-edged, light vertical bar antriorly on the sides of the body; head dark, the light supralabials heavily marbled with dark gray or black. (Malnate 1963)
Comment	Raised to species status by Ota & Iwanaga 1997. This species is classified as “vulnerable” in Japan (Ota 2000).
