Type locality: Lahej and Haithalhim, Aden.
Reproductionoviparous
TypesHolotype: BMNH 95.5.23.9 and BMNH 95.5.23.8
Diagnosis
CommentSimilar species: Hemidactylus yerburii pauciporosus seems to have been confused with H. macropholis, fide LANZA 1978. The only specimen of H. pauciporosus available for genetic analyses to date (CAS 227511) was in previous publications (Carranza and Arnold 2012; Gómez-Díaz et al. 2012; Šmíd et al. 2013) misidentified as H. macropholis and the true H. macropholis appeared for the first time in Garcia-Porta et al. (2016) (ŠMÍD et al. 2016).

Subspecies: The former subspecies H. yerburii pauciporosus LANZA 1978
and H. yerburii montanus BUSAIS & JOGER 2011 have been elevated to full species by ŠMÍD et al. 2016.

Distribution: see map in ŠMÍD et al. 2016: Fig. 3.
Etymologynamed after Colonel Yerbury who saw (or caught ?) the species “in Aden about halfway up Shum-Shum”. Note that that Anderson spelled the name “yerburii” multiple times in his original description.
