Type locality: Indiis  
Reproductionoviparous. Iguana delicatissima and I. iguana hybridize in nature (Breuil et al. 2009).

Diagnosis 
CommentFor illustrations see Lazell, 1973; Wijffels, 1976.

Hybridization: I. iguana and I. delicatissima hybridize in nature (Wagensveld & van den Burg 2018). Of 45 iguanas captured in Anguilla, 22 were morphologically identified as I. delicatissima, 12 as I. iguana and the remainder were identified as hybrids (Pounder et al. 2020).

EtymologyThe Latin adjectives delicatus, "delightful," and the superlative -issimus, "very," are the roots of this name.
