Type locality: summit of Mt. Missin, 17 km NE of Wau, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea, elevation 2877 m.  
TypesHolotype: BPBM 10760 (Bernice P. Bishop Museum) 
DiagnosisDiagnosis. Lobulia subalpina differs from all other Lobulia in the following combination of characters:three supralabialsposterior to subocular supralabial instead of two; prefrontals usually separated (82.1 percent) instead of in contact either directly or through a medial azygous scale; presuboculars modally one; supralabials modally nine, and subdigital lamellae 15-23. 
EtymologyNamed after the high altitude distribution of the species.
