Type locality: "Côte d'or." [=Ghana].

Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy: partly after Loveridge 1959: 259, who synonymized many other forms with coronata that are now synonyms of other species.

BÖHME 1988 mentioned the name Coronella coronata in a book review (Salamandra 24: 318).

Distribution: not in Sierra Leone and Liberia fide TRAPE & BALDÉ 2014: 320. Not in East Africa (i.e. Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi fide S. Spawls, pers. comm., 28 June 2018). East African populations have been assigned to Meizodon regularis.
