Type locality: Mexico: Veracruz, Veracruz.  
TypesHolotype: INHS (= UIMNH) 64463; J. A. and D. R. Holman; August 11, 1964 
EtymologyNamed after Carlos Cerón (d. 1999) and Miguel Cerón (d. 2006), Mexican naturalists who lived in Cuautlapan, Veracruz Province, and who assisted herpetologists in the field for many years. Holman named the lizard after Miguel but mentions both men in the description.
