DistributionOrinoco drainage in the llanos of Venezuela (Apure, Barinas, Bolívar, Cojedes, Guárica, Portuguesa, Distrito Federal, Delta Amacuro) and adjacent Colombia
(maybe in the upper Rio Yari, Caqueta).

Type locality: "Barinas (Staat Zamora), Venezuela".  
Reproductionoviparous. 
TypesHolotype: ZSM 128/1928. 
Diagnosis 
CommentHabitat: freshwater (Rivers and tributaries) 
EtymologyNamed after Father Cornelius Vogl (1884-1959), a Benedictine priest. He was a missionary in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (1910-1919), and in Venezuela (1925-1959).
