Type locality: Foothills of the Meseta de Sierra Negra, Telsen, 880 m elevation (Chubut, Argentina),

Diagnosis 
Comment 
EtymologyFrom the Latin niger or nigrum for "black" or "deep dark," and iugulus or iugulum for "throat." Thus, it means "black throat," the most distinctive feature of the lizard.
