DistributionS Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Malawi, Republic of South Africa, Zululand, west to E Zambia, Zimbabwe and the Transvaal; elevation 0-5500 feet

Type locality: Usambara, Tanzania.  
Reproductionoviparous (not imputed, fide Zimin et al. 2022) 
TypesLectotype: ZMH R07910; Paralectotype ZMB 11008 (Kirchhof et al. 2016).
Syntypes: SMNS 4211a and SMNS 4171 [Prosymna variabilis WERNER 1909]
